Body composition on CT
This visceral fat segmentation on CT from MOOSE also covers skeletal muscle and subcutaneous fat, all outlined in a 3D band around the L3 vertebra, so the CT scan must show L3. A study can measure all three tissues across a cohort as volumes with their Hounsfield values, compare groups, and follow change between scans. On PET or SPECT, uptake can be read in each tissue and set against a reference region such as the blood pool.
Find answers to research questions like: How do muscle, subcutaneous fat, and visceral fat volumes differ between groups? How much do they change between two scans of the same person? How does uptake in visceral fat differ between groups?
