Digestive tract segmentation on CT
Along the digestive tract on a CT scan, MOOSE outlines the esophagus, duodenum, small bowel, and colon as four separate structures. Researchers use them to compare bowel volumes between groups, relate colon volume to diet, and estimate colon length corrected for height. On PET or SPECT, uptake can be read per segment, with the liver as a reference region.
Find answers to research questions like: How do colon and small bowel volumes differ between groups? How do digestive tract volumes vary with age and sex? How does uptake differ between the esophagus, duodenum, small bowel, and colon?
