Trunk and hip muscle segmentation on CT
Five muscles per side make up this CT muscle segmentation from MOOSE: autochthon, iliopsoas, and gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus. Each can be measured on its own, so studies can compare volumes and CT density between groups, between left and right, and over time. On PET or SPECT, uptake can be read per muscle, with a muscle such as the gluteus as a reference region.
Find answers to research questions like: How does muscle uptake change between scan dates in the same people? Do the left and right gluteal muscles differ within one person? Is gluteal muscle size linked to physical function?
