Body composition on MRI
MRSegmentator segments fat and abdominal muscle on MRI: visceral fat, three subcutaneous fat regions that add up to total subcutaneous fat, and left and right rectus abdominis, oblique, and quadratus lumborum muscles. It learned from Dixon and T2-HASTE scans. Abdominal subcutaneous fat starts at T9, and gluteofemoral fat ends at the knee. Studies use these whole volumes to compare groups and follow people over time.
Find answers to research questions like: How do fat and abdominal muscle volumes relate to health outcomes beyond body mass index? Do visceral and subcutaneous fat change in people whose weight stays the same? How well does a single slice stand in for the full volume?
