Trunk cavities on CT
TotalSegmentator segments the main compartments of the trunk on a CT scan of the chest and abdomen: the abdominal cavity, the thoracic cavity, the mediastinum, and the pericardium. Researchers measure these spaces to compare groups, follow change between scans, and tell fat inside a cavity from fat under the skin. On PET or SPECT, the mediastinum serves as a reference region, and uptake can be read inside each compartment.
Find answers to research questions like: How does thoracic cavity volume vary with age, sex, and height? How much fat lies inside and outside the pericardium? How much does mediastinal uptake vary between people and scan dates?
