Description
Contrast-agnostic whole-body skeletal-muscle and bone segmentation for MRI — 99 structures spanning neck, shoulder, thorax, abdomen, pelvis, thigh, and leg — from the MuscleMap toolbox (mm_segment).
Training data
MuscleMap contrast-agnostic whole-body model — wholebody weights v1.3 (the model shipped with the MuscleMap toolbox v2.0). Trained across multiple MRI contrasts and sites for contrast-agnostic skeletal-muscle and bone segmentation. Predominantly adult human anatomy.
Intended use
Research segmentation and quantitative analysis of skeletal muscle and bone in whole-body or regional MRI — cohort analysis, morphometry, and a starting point for manual correction. NOT for primary diagnosis or treatment planning.
Known limitations
MRI only. Accuracy degrades on severe pathology, post-surgical anatomy, implants/metal artefact, paediatric anatomy, and non-standard fields of view. Small or thin structures are the least reliable.
